Please acknowledge receipt and understanding of School Policies by signing the Gray School of
Music New Student Enrollment Forms.
1. Tuition
All payments are due on the first of the month. Lessons occur once a week at the same time every
week.
Here are our current tuition rates:
Private Lesson Length - Amount Per Month
30 minute lesson once a week - $180 per month
1 hour lesson once a week - $320 per month
Sibling rate, 2 children, 30 minutes each, once a week - $320 per month
Tuition is the same amount every month and is not adjusted for missed lessons. Once you
select a lesson time, we reserve that teacher’s time every week for you. Monthly tuition is based on a
yearly calendar.
NEW CHANGE IN POLICY: We will no longer be closing for the 5th week. In certain months you
will get 5 lessons, in certain months you will get 3 lessons, and in most months you will get 4 lessons,
but the charge is the same.
The only exceptions to this is:
1) December/January when we close for a 2 week period for the holidays. Tuition for these
months will be prorated for the closure.
2) If a teacher cancels. Please see #4 of this policy.
There is a one-time $25 registration fee per family. Longer lesson length availability is not
guaranteed and is based on the current availability of teachers. Tuition is subject to an annual
increase on June 1 of every year.
2. Payments
Enrollment is accepted anytime during the year and continues on a month-to-month basis. The
amount due at the 1st lesson is the 1st month’s tuition (pro-rated for the number of lessons in the 1st
month). Thereafter, your tuition is $180 due the 1st of every month
We accept card, cash, check and zelle payments. QR code for zelle can be found at the front desk or
at the end of this policy. Tuition paid by these methods is still due the 1st of the month. Zelle has an
option to set up auto-pay on your end. We are not responsible for automatic payments and you are
expected to cancel it on your end if you discontinue lessons as we do not have the access to cancel it
on our end.
3. Late fees
If tuition is not received by the first lesson, lessons will be halted until payment is received.
Additionally, a $30 late fee will be added to student’s account if not paid during the first week of
the month and student may be at risk of losing their spot.
4. Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons
Please let the school know of any missed lesson dates with as much notice as possible so that we
can inform your teacher.
If your student has two unexcused absences, the teacher may remove your student from the
schedule to make room for a new student. To avoid being removed from the schedule, please keep
teachers informed of when you can’t make lessons as well as when you intend to return.
For lessons missed by a student with a 24 hour notice of the absence, a make-up lesson can be
scheduled if the teacher’s schedule allows. However a make-up lesson is not guaranteed. No
make-ups for same day cancellations.
For lessons missed by a teacher, the school will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a
substitute teacher is unavailable, a make-up lesson with your teacher will be scheduled, or a $38
credit will be added to student’s account in the event a make-up is not possible.
5. Summer/Vacation Dates
The school operates year round and does not close for the summer. If you are taking multiple weeks
or months off for vacation and want to keep the same lesson time, your payment is still due on the 1st
of each month to reserve your lesson space. If not received, your teacher has the right to fill that spot
with a waiting student.
6. Trial Lesson Policy
Gray School of Music offers the option to take a 30-minute trial lesson at the cost of $40 per trial
lesson. If you decide to sign up for lessons, the cost of one trial lesson will be deducted from your 1st
month’s tuition.
7. Referral Program
Receive a $38 credit when you refer someone to our school and they sign up for at least one month
of lessons. Credit will be applied to the next month’s tuition.
8. Music Books and Materials
Music books, materials, and instruments are not included in the tuition and you will be responsible for
the payment. Your teacher will recommend which books to use and they can be purchased from us
or on your own. Amazon or sheetmusicplus.com has most music books in stock. Depending on a
student’s level and progression, the prices and frequency of new materials will vary.
9. Termination
To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, fill out a withdrawal form before
the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be
responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons.
10. Non-Solicitation
You agree that you are a student of Gray School of Music and not of the teacher, and thus agree not
to accept any offers if a Gray School of Music teacher attempts to solicit you as a personal student.
You agree to notify Gray School of Music promptly if any teacher attempts to solicit you as a student
or attempts to receive payment from you outside of Gray School of Music.
11. Other
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. Gray School of Music
reserves the right to refuse instruction to any student at its discretion for reasons including but not
limited to unruly behavior, repeated declined payments, uncooperative parents, excessive tardiness,
or repeated absences.
Students must be picked up promptly after their lessons. Gray School of Music is not responsible for
providing supervision for students outside of teaching time or providing childcare for students or their
siblings. We assume no responsibility for children who are left unaccompanied. You agree to abide
by the most recent School Policies at all times.
12. Liability
Parents or legal guardians of minor students and adult students agree to indemnify and hold
harmless Gray School of Music, it’s instructors, employees, owners, agents, and representatives from
any and all claims or liabilities that may result from acts before, during or after student lessons,
events, or activities, either on or off studio premises, whether negligent or not, including hearing
damage or hearing loss.
